The producers of the 2010 Vancouver Fringe hit The Exquisite Hour are back and buzzing like happy worker bees, preparing to present yet another Canadian West Coast premiere. Continuing their theatrical tradition of wit and whimsy, the Relephants will be coming home to roost in the Carousel studio (where Zack and Helen first sipped their spiked lemonade… and audiences enjoyed an equally refreshing hour of theatre!)
Featuring a cast and creative team comprised of Jessie award-winners and local favourites, the Relephants are thrilled to now bring the best of contemporary Manhattan to the Lower Mainland. Adam Gwon’s Ordinary Days is a taut and tender one-act musical, sung-through with a score that’s often as riotous and colourful as Times Square, and yet as yearning as the empty space in New York’s post-9/11 skyline. Here, the ordinary is revealed to be anything but: as the lives of four young adults collide, this urban fable challenges its inhabitants, and celebrates the extraordinary that exists in every invaluable moment.
It promises to be an evening of fine entertainment, the equivalent of a perfect first date: with quick-flowing conversation, frank laughter, achingly slow, warming smiles – and refreshingly honest music. A great start to the new year!
